I have a pony with Cushings. He is a medium (around 13.1 hand). How much feed balancer grass formula and Envision would you recommend as a starting point?

Amy:

Laminitis is a seperation of the sensitive laminae (a fibrous structure in the hoof) from the hard hoof wall. It is caused by many conditions all the way from genetics to eating too much grain--too quickly.

Nutritional management--is all the same--limit excess body weight, feed grass hay, and feed very little sweet feeds or grain. We do still need to supply the essential protein vitamin and mineral nutrition, which can be accomplished by feeding ProAdvantage Grass Formula.

Hope this helps.

I would feed the Cushings pony 1 lb/day of ProAdvantage Grass. The amount of Envision depends upon his body weight--if he is thin, I would start at 1lb/day as well. If he is heavy--I would not add any Envision Classic

Hay Russell-- With the shortage of hay, I understand a good extender is beet pulp. If this is true what amount should I feed and how much is too much. I now feed only brome AM and PM and 3/4 lb "pro advantage grass" in AM only. Having trouble finding the product in the Wichita area
